Canada day pay Q  Actions...

I work part time in retail at Sherway Gardens.  The mall was open today and we were scheduled o work without a choice.  Today they told us we will not get time and a half.  Does anyone know the law around this for part timers?

it's only full time Government/Union employees that get paid time & a half generally speaking. My son is also working today, part-time, at the local rec centre, he doesn't get any extra pay! 

I've never heard of any retail employees getting paid time & a half.

so do check website for both your province (Ontario?) as well as federal. July 1 is THE day, but it seems that since it was on a Sunday this year it has made today (July 2) a stat day.  If a stat day occurs on a normal day off (ie Sunday) in some jobs you may or may not get extra pay - or time off in lieu.
